Since 1908, Woodland has been a cornerstone of Lexington’s community, offering a sanctuary for worship, connection, and service.
Today, we stand at a pivotal moment in our history, ready to expand our mission and create a brighter future—one that blends faith, community, and the arts.
Our Vision
Woodland’s sanctuary has been a sacred space for over a century, serving as a gathering place for worship and community events.
Now, we’re transforming it into a dual-purpose venue—a center for worship and a state-of-the-art performing arts space. With upgraded lighting, sound, and video technology, our sanctuary will become a vibrant hub for artists, audiences, and community groups across Lexington.
This campaign is not just about repairing a building—it’s about redefining what Woodland Christian Church can be. As we repair our historic sanctuary and ceiling, we are also raising our sights, asking, “What is our true ceiling?” By enhancing this historic space, we’re ensuring it continues to serve and inspire for generations to come.
Why Now?
The pandemic gave us the time to reflect on how Woodland could better serve its congregation and the wider community. Faced with over $1 million in necessary repairs, we dared to see this as an opportunity to grow. Together with our partner, Winterwood, we envision a sanctuary that welcomes worshippers, performers, and neighbors alike.
